Summer is coming quickly! It is time to buy your hurricane supplies; water, non-perishables, batteries; candles etc. Oh yes, time to start cutting and quilting. It is too hot to go out (unless you have to visit your local quilt shop of course). I have four projects lines up for summer already!
Our local quilt guild meets the second Monday of the month at our local Florida Advent Hospital from 5:30 to 7:30pm. If you call the shop we can give you more information.
The reason I give you their info is they have spurred me on to finish some of those partially finished projects (oh you know you have them) and those kits I have put together but never started! The guild had you number 6 UFO’S (unfinished projects). Every two months a number is drawn and that is the project you will finish. So far I have had two quilts and a rug finished! What a good feeling! So that is a tip for you, number your projects and pull a number out of a bag. You MUST finish that one before you start another. To motivate yourself, tell a quilter friend what you plan to do and have them check up on you! When you finish one, take a picture and send it to our Facebook page – or bring it in and we will do it for you!
Our holiday fabrics are starting to arrive! It is never too soon to start sewing for the holidays. In July we will have many make it and take it sessions, as well as small projects like table runners and placemats. Diane has made a cute hexi pillow that she will be demonstrating!
We have two new teachers, Cindi Curcio and Ellen Sheridan. Come in and meet them. Cindy will be making a table runner, shirt and quilts. Ellen will be teaching a Christmas quilt and tress skirt. Our two new teachers are very skilled at sewing and teaching.
Have you heard about the Quilt trail across America? Come on in and I can tell you all about it! We are having our first barn quilt block painting classes this summer. The blocks will be 24” in size. You can hang them on your porch, fence or inside your house. Let’s make Florida part of the “trail”.
Carol, Sue, Darlene and I will also be teaching classes. So, check out the class section to see what we have to offer.
In July we are part of a 12 shop Shop Hop. This year’s theme is autumn. We are cutting and getting ready to sew.
As you can see, although business slows down in the summer we are busy, getting things ready for the upcoming season! We have some very interesting things going on in the fall, so stay tuned.
I hope you all have a healthy and productive summer!
